Lodge Moose Legion Committee

Meeting - Wednesday, December 10, 2008 @ 7:00pm

Our Lodge Moose Legion Committee Chairman, Al Depew opened the meeting. There were 11  Legionnaires & Ladies in attendance. We discussed some of the past activities held, and some possible upcoming activities to hold. Some of the thoughts were hosting a Dance open to all Moose members, with incentives given to the Moose Legionnaires (our Special Guests) and promoting it to the surrounding Lodges, a Dish to Pass PARTY for Moose Legionnaires and their families, along with other possibilities. Howard Reed stressed the importance of keeping the emphasis on having FUN! Duff Terry talked about ways that we can involve newer LOOM members, to show them first hand how much FUN we have as Moose Legionnaires.

Mike Donnelly expressed the importance of sponsors for Moose Legionnaires being reported accurately, to insure that the sponsor gets credited for one of the requirements toward achieving the Fellowship Degree.

We went over a list of our Lodge members having a current status as a Moose Legionnaire. Ed Stone, our Assistant Secretary, will work with Mike & I to put together a list of good standing LOOM members in our Lodge that meet the requirements to become a part of the Degree of FUN (Degree of Service). The requirements are: one (1) year of LOOM membership & sponsoring one (1) member, or six (6) months of LOOM membership & sponsoring three (3) members. 

The meeting concluded with a collection for the Endowment Fund, and a 50/50 drawing.

The next monthly meeting at our Lodge will be held Wednesday, January 14th @ 7:00pm. Please stop in and share your ideas for FUN EVENTS that we can hold to help develop a strong camaraderie between our Legionnaires; also giving reason for qualified applicants to want to become a part of our Degree of Service. If you are interested in finding out more about the Moose Legion, ask one of our many Legionnaires.

Women accompanying a good standing Moose Legionnaire are always welcome and encouraged to join us.

Any and all good standing Moose Legionnaires, and their Ladies, are invited to attend the upcoming District Moose Legion Enrollment Celebration at the Owego Lodge on Sunday, January 18th @ 3:00pm followed by dinner.
