Meeting - Wednesday, December 10, 2008 @ 7:00pm

(Qualifications for becoming a Moose Legionnaire)

Ed Stone, Assistant Secretary started things off with a numbers game to see who your roll model is. Followed by our Lodge Moose Legion Committee Chairman, Al Depew opening the meeting. There were 9  Legionnaires & Ladies in attendance. 

Al let everyone know that the District Legion President, Dennis Zimmer had planned on joining our meeting. However, his schedule didn't allow for that. He did stop in during the day on Tuesday and talked with our Governor, Duff Terry. Duff explained what we are doing, and Dennis was pleased with our progress. Al continued to stress the importance of putting together a Calendar of Events to let current & eligible Legionnaires know what we are working on. We discussed the opportunity presented by Governor Duff Terry to do something as a Legion on the 4th Friday nights in lue of a Fish Fry. We will present a possible schedule of events to the Board for approval. We have scheduled this year an Octoberfest. In addition we are looking at doing at least one Friday night dinner, a Saturday night Spring Fling Dinner Dance and a booth at two (2) Jamborees. 

Ed mentioned that we have two (2) appointed positions open, Marshall & Guard. Al asked if there were any volunteers, no appointments have been made at this time. Ed also brought a printout of the new Moose Legion Ritual Program. It will not go into effect until at least May '09. He also received from Moose Int'l  a list of LOOM members from our Lodge, that are eligible to become Moose Legionnaires, that we reviewed. Dan also review a list of members that have already submitted their Moose Legion applications, which are approved for enrollment. For those he has not already contacted, he will send an email to let them know of the upcoming Enrollment Celebration this Sunday, January 18th at the Owego Moose Lodge. As well as the dates of the next two (2) District Legion meetings / Celebrations: February 28th at Horseheads Moose Lodge & April 18th at our Lodge (Montour Falls).

The meeting concluded with a collection for the Endowment Fund, and a 50/50 drawing.

The next monthly meeting at our Lodge will be held Wednesday, February 11th @ 7:00pm. We would welcome your attendance and sharing of your ideas for FUN EVENTS that we can hold to help develop a strong camaraderie between our Legionnaires. If you are interested in finding out more about the Moose Legion, ask one of our many Legionnaires.

Women accompanying a good standing Moose Legionnaire are always welcome and encouraged to join us.

Any and all good standing Moose Legionnaires, and their Ladies, are also invited to attend the upcoming District Moose Legion meeting held at the Horseheads Lodge, Saturday, February 28th, 2009 @ 4:00pm followed by dinner.

To become a part of the Degree of FUN (Degree of Service). The requirements are: one (1) year of LOOM membership & sponsoring one (1) member, or six (6) months of LOOM membership & sponsoring three (3) members.
